On Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember our whole family gets together and has a big dinner.  My grandma usually cooks the turkey and everyone else brings the sides.  It’s one of the few times our whole family gets together for a meal or celebration.  We also do a Christmas dinner and that’s probably the only time everyone gets together except for when it’s someone’s birthday.  All of my aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, and a lot of my cousins come to thanksgiving.  Most of the time it is held at my grandma’s house but there aren’t many people coming this year so we’re having it at my house.  We have turkey, home made mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls, and much more.  I like thanksgiving because it gives us a chance to get the whole family together and I really like the food too.  That is what my family does on thanksgiving.

technology class

In Mr. Moore’s technology class we went over e-mailing.  We used many websites that we can use later in our lives for school or other things.  We made our own websites and interacted with others on the wiki.  We used dopple me to make characters of ourselves.  My favorite was using animoto to create our own slideshow video using pictures, text, and video within the video.  We can use this later in school if a teacher wants us to create a slideshow for a certain subject.  We recently learned how to blog and it’s fun to post things and have people comment on them.  This class was really fun and it’s sad to see it go.  Those are just some of the many things we learned in Mr. Moore’s technology, first trimester.

I read an article on this site.  It’s about how movie makers came to Grand Ledge to film a movie.  Only a small part of it was filmed in Grand Ledge but it’s still pretty cool because I live near there.I found this image on lsj.com(lansing state journal).  It’s an image of a styrofoam cave used in the movie.  The movie is a remake of “Red Dawn” originally filmed in 1984.  If you want to know more, check out the link above.

News report

I read an article from this site.  It is about  how the state of Michigan wants to cut a certain amount of fundings to the Grand Ledge school district.  Some protested this budget cut from 6pm to 8pm.  Students are grouping together to protest this cut.  It will effect the students if this is passed.  The district will have to close down two schools, put more students in schools that are still open, and buses will be cut to students that live within two miles to the high school.  If you have an opinion on whether or not the state should cut some money going to the schools, please comment below.

outdoors

I chose this image because I love the outdoors.  There are basically no limits.  You can play sports and picnic or make up a game of your own.  You can swim, fish, or hunt.  I also like animals and you can find many different varieties of animals outdoors.  That is why I chose this picture.

Uniform response

November 17, 2009 - No Responses

I’m glad we don’t have to wear uniforms at our school.  It may look formal and prevent people from getting teased.  What it doesn’t do is protect our right to wear what we want.  I don’t think that the learning environment would be affected either way so I don’t see the need for uniforms.  Some things are appropriate to wear to school and as long as we don’t wear anything distracting we should be able to wear what we want.  That is what I think about uniforms at school.

President response

If I could be president for a day I don’t know that I’d want to be president for a day.  They have many responsibilities that a kid my age can’t handle.  If I had to be then I’d start out by proposing the idea of energy run cars.  I think it’s a great idea but no one wants to buy it.  I’d require car companies to actually try to make good commercials and promote the car because I don’t  think they tried before.  That is what I’d do if I were president.

Middle school student response

I think middle school is tough but we have to be challenged at some point in life to grow as a person and to learn.  I have enjoyed life as a middle school student and there are many good things that come with middle school too.  You make many friends and you have the opportunity to learn and prepare yourself for the future.  Some challenges in middle school is that there are many time constraints between classes and dead lines to get things done.  I have learned from my mistakes not to do the same thing over again of course.  Overall middle school is a good place to learn and grow and to interact with new people and make new friends.

Baseball article response

I thought this article was interesting.  A lot of umpires are under estimated and not many people say they want to be one when they grow up.  An umpires job is just as important as a pitcher but it seems like pitchers get all the fame.  An umpires job is a lot harder than it looks.  I was watching Sportscenter one day and they say that umpires are underestimated a lot.  They have to make split second decisions every day such as calling balls and strikes.  They get a lot of criticism from the fans when they make a wrong call.  What they don’t understand though is that they have to make the decision right away.  Later in life I would like to be a builder or maybe even a singer but all jobs have their ups and downs.  All jobs are unique in their own way and they all take effort.
